Leah Kamin, Psy.D.

Originally from Portland, OR, Dr. Kamin completed her Bachelor's degree at the University of Oregon.  She completed both her Master's of Science in Clinical Psychology and her Doctorate of Psychology at Pacific University.  For her dissertation Dr. Kamin studied the relationship between attachment styles and sense of adulthood.  Essentially, she explored whether or not those who feel secure and confident in relationships are more likely to find success in transitioning to adulthood.  She applies the knowledge gained from this research regularly in her work with young adults.

While in Portland Dr. Kamin also completed a two year training program in Contemporary Gestalt Therapy and Buddhist Psychology at the Gestalt Therapy Training Center NW.  This experience provided a strong foundation in humanistic, insight-oriented therapy as well as in mindfulness and meditation.

In 2015, after completing a pre-doctoral internship at the University of Kentucky counseling center and a postdoctoral fellowship at Roger Williams University counseling center, Dr. Kamin arrived in Boston to work as a licensed psychologist.  She spent her first years as a psychologist working at Commonwealth Psychology Associates, a multi-speciality behavioral health center in Boston.

Since living in Boston Dr. Kamin has attended additional trainings through Harvard Medical School and the Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Therapy Institute in New York City.  One of Dr. Kamin's favorite aspects of this career is the opportunity for lifelong growth and learning.  Living in New England, surrounded by the latest advancements in modern medicine, provides rich opportunities for training and education.

If you meet Dr. Kamin you will find her to be warm, authentic, and insightful.  She cares deeply about establishing and maintaining genuine and collaborative relationships with her patients.  Her treatment style is informed by humanistic psychology, attachment theory, cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness, and social justice.  Click below to learn more about her approach to therapy.
